Hello, I am Rosanna Fikes, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. As a Sonoma County native, it is a privilege to work with youth, families, and adults in the local area. I have a client-centered approach, and I am passionate about helping people gain personal awareness in the face of challenges. I enjoy supporting people through the process of change, and my aim is to be a caring and encouraging person along this journey.

For the past four years I have been working with Social Advocates for Youth (SAY), providing psychotherapy to youth and families. At SAY I have worked in the Counseling Clinic, serving youth age 5-25 and their families, as well as in the Santa Rosa City schools where I help students build skills in order to improve functioning at school and achieve academic success.

Prior to that, I provided case management services to adults with severe mental illnesses in a long-term care hospital setting in Santa Rosa, CA. I enjoyed getting to know the residents on a personal level and advocating for their care, as well as facilitating the Wellness Recovery Action Plan and Dialectical Behavior Therapy groups on a weekly basis.

During my training, I worked with the City of Fremont Youth and Family Services as a school-based counselor providing individual and group therapy as well as family support in an elementary school and a continuation high school.

Theoretical Orientation

When working with individuals and families I use a collaborative approach, considering the needs of those involved, the goals for therapy, and the potential time frame available. While I have training and experience in several methods of therapy, the theoretical orientations that I generally draw from include: Humanistic, Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, Psychodynamic, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused, and Trauma informed care.

I graduated from University of California, Riverside with a B.A. in Psychology and a Minor in Women’s Studies. I received my M.A. in Counseling from Saint Mary’s College of California.
