Hello, I’m Debi Emmons, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. I feel that it is a privilege to work with youth, families and adults in the midst of challenging times. I support and encourage clients in developing a balanced approach to their lives by providing a safe, non-judgmental space to explore and gain a deeper understanding. I am a warm, genuine, encouraging person to meet with and I use an eclectic approach by blending different theories to develop mutually agreed upon goals.

In addition to my work at Petaluma Family Therapy, I am a School Mental Health Coordinator at Social Advocates for Youth (SAY) coordinating the mental health services in 28 Sonoma County schools.

Prior to that, I worked as a School Mental Health Clinician for 8 years providing individual and group counseling to at-risk teens. I also worked with West County Community Service supporting youth and adults with physical, mental and cognitive disabilities to prepare for and obtain employment.

During my training, I worked at Family Service Agency of Sonoma County providing psychotherapy to children, adults and families in times of need. I co-led a court-mandated group for adults who have been arrested for domestic violence and other power and control issues helping them to find healthy ways to engage with others.

Therapeutic Orientation:

My therapeutic approach includes a range of theories including: Humanistic, Psychodynamic, CBT, Family Systems, Narrative, Mindfulness and Trauma informed care.
