Casandra McGee, MFT
Hello, I am Casandra McGee, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. The decision to start seeing a therapist is a big step in anyone’s life. It can feel challenging to reach out for help. My goal is to put my clients at ease while allowing them to challenge themselves in order to grow.
My background includes providing mental health care to youth, adults, couples and families. I provide an authentic, caring, and transparent therapeutic style to my clients.
I specialize in psychotherapy treatment to teens, adults, couples, and families whom have indirectly or directly experienced trauma, chronic illness, and anxiety . I have worked in the mental health field for 11 years providing quality services and supervising new therapists working to reach their potential.
I strive to listen, understand, and help people find new perspectives on their lives (past, present, and future). I approach therapy from a client-centered perspective, understanding that everyone is the expert in their own lives. I also incorporate an awareness of people’s environmental context and relationships everyone experiences to highlight the social systems that affect our day-to-day lives. I provide a safe therapeutic container in order to allow my clients to expand their perspective, gain insights and grow as individuals.
I started work in this field as an intern at a substance abuse facility and psychiatric hospital in the Fresno area. I then went to a large agency in Contra Costa and Sonoma County, where I provided therapeutic work to youth, adults and families to support stabilizing home placement, adoption, foster care and supporting people in creating and identifying action plans to address their needs.
I also have experience in supporting severely traumatized youth and families at the Child Parent Institute and holding groups to support people who are diagnosed with life long illnesses.
